Webster Apartment - Rochester Couples Session | Richie + Jill
Life has gotten crazy and three weeks deep into quarantine and social distancing, I was really starting to feel it. Right before everything started getting super serious, Richie and I were suppose to leave for a week long vacation in Fort Myers. A few days before, everything seemed okay as long as we were cautious at the airport, but then everything started to shut down and restaurants and beaches were closing. We decided to cancel two days before the trip and I was HEARTBROKEN. We knew it was the right move and knew we could always go next year when my grandparents are back down there. Next, my Ali Wong stand-up event in Toronto with my brother got postponed (and I still am not sure I can make the new date with my busy wedding season). Our Finger Lakes long weekend trip in April had to be cancelled and I just about had it….. I even cried one day because I was so sad. Richie drove me to the only open Starbucks drive-thru just to cheer me up.
On top of that I have all my May/June (and possibly now July) couples going through a very difficult time. I’m trying my best to be there for everyone and to help plan backup plans while staying as positive as I can be in such an unfamiliar event. I will say the slower time has allowed me to stay back and reflect on what I want to accomplish and plan for whatever time we have left for 2020, but nothing has been easy. Longer walks outside, extra time cuddling with Mochi, and spending a ton of time quarantined with my boyfriend has been the only positive part of the past few weeks. Since all non-essential workers are suppose to be at home, I haven’t touched my camera in a over a month!!! Which for me is unheard of!!!
I miss photographing people and interacting with others and felt like my creative juices were disappearing. I decided it was time to set up my dusty tripod (which I rarely use) and take some photos together to remember these quiet moments being quarantined together. Although we enjoy going on long walks and outdoor hikes, we also have found a new love for yahtzee and UNO flip (a newer version of the game because Target didn’t have the original haha). I’m so thankful for the meals both our parents have sent us and for all of my family and friends who continuously check on how we are doing, but I’m so thankful for Richie and Mochi for keeping me happy during these very difficult weeks. I hope you all are finding happiness throughout your day and enjoying the slower times with the ones you love most!!! By the end of scrolling, you’ll probably also notice my serious love for Rae Dunn!!! Even Mochi’s string that she loves is Rae Dunn string from packaging I bought at TJ Maxx and HomeGoods…. aka where I will be living after all this is finally over. If you are a photographer, I challenge you to set up a little in-home shoot together too! We had an absolute blast and these images will always be a special reminder for this crazy time in our lives!!
P.S. This was also the first time I’ve done my hair and makeup/put jeans on in over THREE weeks… so don’t be fooled that we look this put together during quarantine hahahaha!!! I’m normally in a hoodie and pajama shorts all day long!!
