Brighton Backyard Wedding - Rochester Wedding | Anthony + Chelsey

Married July 11th, 2020

Just a month ago, I was on my way to photograph an intimate backyard wedding at my couple’s home. When the Pandemic started, Anthony + Chelsey knew they still wanted to get married this year. They planned their backyard wedding and then they also had to deal with another obstacle… Tropical Storm Fay. I honestly don’t mind rain on wedding days and although I know it may seem daunting to many, it creates some beautiful photos. They had to move their ceremony into their garage for some extra coverage, but decorated it with florals and bistro lighting. After their ceremony, they had a mini cocktail hour while we took some photos before heading out to the tent they set up for their reception. As the rain continued to downpour, they decided to embrace all that has been thrown at them and did their first dance in the rain in front of their closest family/friends. It’s a moment I will always remember as they were dancing around puddles and laughing as they held an umbrella. After an amazing dinner and their cake cutting, guests that couldn’t be a part of their wedding day lined up in their cars and drove by to cheer on the newlyweds and say a quick hello. As it started the rain cleared up a little, but once the last few cars approached… the rain came down hard! They refused to take an umbrella and I saw the headlights of one of the cars create a gorgeous backlit image of the torrential downpour. I may be one of my favorite images of all time!!! Congratulations Anthony + Chelsey!!! I can’t wait to celebrate with you all again next year!!
